Okay, I know I'm not the only larger lady rider around here...my question is, is it possible to find tall boots that will fit uber-large calves?? Or will the only way I'm going to get tall boots that fit be to bite the bullet and get some custom made? A friend suggested I might look at men's boots; has anyone successfully tried that?

I did have a pair of tall boots in college that I could at least get on, but another part of my problem is I also have pretty long legs, and they weren't nearly tall enough; the tops of the boots would always catch on the flap of the saddle. Not that I could even get in those boots now (I tried!), as college was quite some time ago, and a combination of marriage+medications+divorce over the past couple of years have sadly caused me to expand all over.

"Together Til the Very End"

I've started drawing again, I attended my first DIY/Handmade show as a vendor, opened an Etsy Shop and I've finally got some prints that I'm proud to say I created.

I am drunk.
This picture was taken in a local coffee shop
- their smelly bathroom
- after many margaritas and too much Mexican food.
It was all in celebration
of one of my best friends getting married tomorrow.
So - drunk Myspace-like pictures
in random smelly bathrooms
was only appropriate.

My parents just left a huge bag of turnips (with greens) at my house.  I've had turnips once - boiled.  I liked them, but would really like to do something else with them.  I don't recall ever having turnip greens though.

I made a delicious ciabatta using this recipe.

Anyone know if it would work to bake this in a loaf pan? Just curious.

This is one of those desserts that looks really impressive yet takes hardly any work at all - seriously! Most restaurants charge $6 or more for one serving but all you need are four basic ingredients, plus some fruit, and you have yourself one fancy looking treat for a fraction of the cost.

Chicken with 40 Cloves of Garlic is an Internet favorite these days. Just about everyone has made it, and with good reason. When that chicken comes out of the oven, roasted with 40 cloves of golden, oozing garlic cloves and fragrant herbs and spices, the smell is almost heavenly, as is the taste. However, as easy as sticking something in the oven for hours may be, sometimes you just don't want to leave the oven on all day. For this reason, I decided that I could just use my crock pot instead. True, the skin isn't as crispy as it would have been in the oven, but I'm sure that it's a thousand times juicier, and the flavors meld together just as well as they would have in the oven, as they are contained in my little crock pot. The garlic becomes almost buttery after three hours in the pot with the chicken, herbs, olive oil, and white wine, and the chicken itself has the most delicious skin and juicy meat. My husband made mashed potatoes go to along with this, and we decided to remove from of the garlic cloves from the chicken and mash them up to add to the potatoes; a genius move on our part, I assure you. I made a gravy with the leftover juices and garlic by mashing the garlic through a mesh sieve and simmering the juices and garlic paste with a bit of butter. The leftovers for this meal were happily eaten the next day, and I will certainly continue to make this classic dish in my crock pot. Recipe after the cut or on my blog at The Crepes of Wrath.

I'm sure most of you have had some sort of mustard dill sauce before...so here's my take on it.
At the moment I'm kind of obsessed with pairing it with Apples.

A bacon and chocolate cupcake from my local cupcake bakery:

Bacon and Chocolate Cupcake

I was really excited to try this flavor combo but it kind of fell flat for me - the buttercream was too thick and the bacon pieces inside the cupcake felt like eating paper. I'm going to try my hand at making cupcakes or some baked good with bacon soon.

More of my review, plus a picture of another one of their pretty cupcakes (one with cookie dough inside! it's amazing) at my blog
